… Klappplastikstühle sind gefährlicher als Monoblocs und warnt vor Verletzungen bei einem aktuellen Modell:

The product poses a risk of injuries because, when adjusting the position of the armrest, a shear point is formed and the hands and fingers of the user can be entrapped and injured. In addition, the bottom of the chair legs is open, which could cause entrapment and injury when folding. The product does not comply with the relevant European standard EN 581-1.

Das würde ich doch gerne mal nach backen. Jamie Wolfond hat aus Polyethylen und mit Hilfe von selbstgetackerten Silikonformen, Plastikstühle geformt. Eine chice Sache. Keine „echten“ (Monobloc)Plastikstühle (die sind übrigens aus Polypropylen). Aber doch as close as it gets zum DIY-Plastikstuhl.

The chairs are made from plastic regrind, which are chunks of failed injection-molded parts that would otherwise go to waste. Sourcing the material from factories throughout the country, Wolfond was able to get over 350 pounds of regrind donated for the project.

Bert Löschner macht Kunst aus dem schönsten Werkstoff, den es gibt: aus Plastikstühlen. Und damit stimmt er mich glücklich und traurig zu gleich. Glücklich, weil: die Objekte und Zeichnungen sind wirklich herzzerreißend schön. Und traurig, denn: die holzstuhlkritische Plastikstuhleria ist doch fragmentierter denn je. Die Beschäftigung von Löschner mit dem Plastikstuhl scheint schon mindestens anderthalb Jahre alt zu sein und ich habe noch nix davon mitbekommen. Zeit, dass ich mal meine Suchautomatisierungen wieder benutze. Und meinen RSS-Reader wieder entstaube.

And here I present to you, the worst looking plastic chairs I’ve ever seen. They were great around the bonfire for years, but I can’t sit in them these days without getting that chalky white dust all over my clothes, yuck! I took some ammonia and the hose and went to town trying to clean they babies but just ended up scrubbing off the top layer of plastic. Oops! So I contemplated buying sale chairs at the end of summer, but then thought why not give these a second chance. So that’s what I did. These two and their two brothers got hosed down and primed up to start.
